EATS! Summer Program

EATS! Summer Program

undefinedSchool Is Out, But Lunch Is On …
With EATS!, Every Kid Can Eat All Through Summer
Each school day last year, 93,575 low-income children in Nebraska — most of them in the Omaha area — received free or reduced-price meals through the National School Lunch Program. That makes for a lot of hungry kids during the summer months when school is out. For many of these children, school lunches were the only healthy meals, so while for most children summer means fun, for these children, it means hunger.
Free for Kids
EATS!, a program of Omaha’s Westside Community Schools, ensures that children have access to at least one nutritious, balanced meal a day. This annual summer lunch program is funded by the USDA and carried out by Westside’s Nutrition Services Department. Designed for children ages 1 to 18, EATS! is offered on weekdays at sites throughout Omaha and the surrounding area, providing safe locations where kids can enjoy a healthy breakfast or snack and lunch, free of charge.
Growing boys and girls need nutritious foods. EATS! ensures that every kid can have at least one balanced meal a day. If your child or a child you know could benefit from this free program, we invite them to EATS! — where they can Eat All Through Summer.

No sign-up is required for children to attend the EATS! program; however, children should arrive early to ensure that they get a meal.
